The Good Run Continues as the flat season continues to thrive

The very last bet of May was a superb 28/1 winner at Goodwood

Tropical Paradise - won 28/1.

This followed other May winners including..

Akmal 13/2, Perfect Shot 9/2 ( strong bet), Fareer 15/2 (strong), Ezdeyaad 13/2, Ellemujie 13/2, Moynahan 6/1 (strong), Rare Ruby 4/1 (Strong), Chiberta King 7/2, Jedi 2/1.

One multiple given - an ew yankee produced a winner, 2 seconds & a 3rd for a nice profit.

My Strategy for the Flat Season

.................................................

*************Please click on right hand link ( above) if you want to see the flat analysis highlighted below**************

....................................................................................................................

I rate things under 4 codes, Chases, Hurdles, Flat & AW. All 4 codes have been profitable but the turf flat season has resulted in 73.7% of my profits. I knew i was better at the flat but that still was bigger than i anticipated.

What i then did was to review my strengths & weaknesses on the flat.

I have always favoured handicaps but I was fully aware that my early reputation was based on the bigger meetings & I have always tried to tip in the big group races.

This year needs to be all about making money, we can watch the big races this year.

I applied 3 very basic filters ( always a big danger of backfitting so none of this races with 11 runners on the soft analysis)

If the filter didn't make sense i wouldn't use it.

The 3 filters are:-

Handicaps only - my area of expertise

no fields greater than 18 runners - a great challenge but not a money maker

No class lower than 5 - form more unrelaible

Thats it!

This has produced the following..

Before the filter , on the flat over 2 years , there have been..

787 bets, 23.6% of which were profitable ( includes ew advises), profit of 288 points & a ROI of 27.5% - still a very good performance.

Adding the very simple & logical filter...

435 bets, 27.8% were profitable, profit of 439 pts & a ROI of 75.6%!!! ( The ROI at SP was 40%!)

Basically this is my pledge to you all...

I will only bet on Grade 5 handicaps or higher when there are 18 runners or less

There will be 3 exceptions to this - Royal Ascot & Glorious Goodwood where there are always great opportunities ( will still not tip as much as in previous years) & the longer distance stakes races where I have a very good record

There will be no specials at the Derby meeting or the Guineas & no tips in the Derby, The Guineas etc.

Including the 3 exceptions I can see over 95% of my tips being in my favoured area of decent handicap races.
